Modeling the potential impacts of dairy manure on water and soil of San Joaquin Valley

Understanding the impacts of California’s 2,700 dairy farms on environment is crucial for protecting soil and water. USDA estimates that in California there are more than 5.2 million Cattle and Calves, that can generate more than 60 million tons (@ 30kg/head) of manure each year, and considerable portion of the manure is applied into cropland as fertilizers, which can play a significant role in impacting the pathogen levels in the environment. My research interests are to develop a model capable of predicting the potential impacts of California’s dairy manure on environment.
